The opportunity for 'the simple solution' here was squandered a long time ago. HPS was not around when those opportunities existed but others were. The driver here seems to be development at any cost. Maybe, just maybe, there is some room for some meaningful public consultation in the search for a solution. What about the precinct's Community of Ownership & Interest?

All wisdom does not always reside in academic institution. Practical people with experience may have something to offer.

  1. You know a polly is in a deep intellectual hole when she/he wants to cover his/her backside with an academic's opinion. Typically academics in situations like this are disinclined or are unable to provide FREE ADVICE. Why would/should they?

    That's what's wanted here yes?? Then comes "we asked and they had nothing useful to say". Smoke and mirrors and polly speak.

    Those asking think its a good career move to give it. Be assured IT IS NOT!

    Those asked to offer it know that 9 times out of 10 it is valued as much as was on offer to provide it. Ask by all means but front up with some money to ensure it GOOD advice, accountable advice, and to ensure those who give it that it will be VALUED!

    Ask a sparky or chippy or plumber for free services and see where you get.
